RS1226+ Specs

Looks like the RS1226+ is near release: RackStation RS1226+ | Synology Inc.

Uses the same processor, has 2 2.5G NICs instead of 4 1G, built-in NVMe slots...

Since Synology isn't upgrading the CPU, maybe we'll get a few extra years of support out of our 1221+'s? Doubt it.

Dismal specs. Eight-year-old CPU, 4GB memory (should be 16-32GB), No 10GbE (should be dual).

Synology should be ashamed. Hard pass.

Does TrueNAS offer apps similar to SynologyDrive, Cloud Sync, and Hyper Backup? I think when my RS1221+ dies or support ends, I'm jumping ship and going with another vendor.

Really shameful "upgrade".

Thanks. Looks like you have to get a quote from TrueNAS. I'll have to dig around if there are any authorized resellers. I have a few more years though.

Not necessarily. TrueNAS runs on UGreen and Terramaster NAS's, likely others.

I'd suggest UGreen. If TrueNAS turns out differently than expected, you can switchover to UGreen's OS. FWIW, some even run DSM on their UGreen NAS, though that is something for the more intrepid users to undertake.
