Amazon Alexa and Audio Station

I am seeking any advice/information on how to actually get Amazon Alexa to work with Audio Station. I have followed the instructions and get to a point in the process where in I get an error message that states the following: "Failed to apply settings. Please check the Internet connectivity, and ensure normal access to your Synology NAS from the internet." Does anyone know just how you ensure normal access to Synology NAS from the internet? This is as far as I get everytime. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

It would be best to also explain what you have tried so far, point out any special configuration elements, as well as, how exactly are you configuring this setup. Do you want this to be accessible from the internet directly, via some VPN tunnel, etc.
