Beestation issue

Recently purchased a second hand BST150-4T Beestation to replace my WD Mybook NAS which is no longer supported and has security issues.

Problem is the Beestation it just sits there and balefully blinks its orange light. Tried reset, power cycle, and all support articles on the official website.

My PC 'sees' the Beestation on the Network. Synology Assistant can see it too and is listed as 'Not Installed'. But when I try to 'install' the latest .pat file downloaded from the official website, it gets to about 10% then states 'Failed to install DSM'.

I've tried resetting via device button, etc but to no avail. Incidentally, I believe a reset can be done in two steps - one beep then three - but have never heard the three beeps.

Can anyone suggest a solution? This may of course include the inevitable(?) 'It's broken, buy a new one'.

Considering that the drive can't be swapped out without losing the warranty, I would try and replace the whole device if possible. By design, it was intended to be replaced as a whole. If that will not be an option (out of warranty), then you have several options.

a) get a completely new unit
b) open it up and replace the drive

The error that you are getting indicates that the OS is not installed, and that could very well be due to the drive inside.
