Hi All,
Not sure if this is the correct section for this.
I recently purchased a Canon MF643Cdw and am trying to configure it to scan to my NAS.
What I have tried so far is:
  • use the IP Address as the Hostname instead of the actual hostname of the NAS.
  • put the path as follows: "/172.16.100.1/scanned"
So far I have not been able to get it to work.
I was hoping that maybe someone here has been able to get their Canon printer working.
Thanks.

Generally that is done via your scanner software, pointing it to either a mapped shared folder on your PC, or the path your PC uses to connect to the NAS.

Paths typically begin with 2 slashes... so

//<nas_ip>/<shared_folder>/<subfolder> or
//<nas_ip>/<volumeX>/<shared_folder>/<subfolder>

Path may (or may not), be preceded with "smb:"

Windows paths use the backward slash "\".

Or are you only using the Canon interface panel, and not a PC to manage scanning profiles, etc.?

I'm using the web interface to add it to the address book for easy access, so that my family can just use that entry to scan to a common folder.

Not sure if this is visible but the UI looks like this.
I am pretty sure I have the correct user account to use for the NAS.
Just that the Host Name and Folder Path configuration is always wrong for me.

Hello
I have the same printer with a DS420+

Printing from anywhere by all members of the family works well

Scanning for me requires at least one computer to be logged in and the scan is to the computer/path.

The scan goes to the NAS so others can retrieve it from their device

This is intended to connect to a Windows PC. If you're scanning directly from the Canon touchscreen to the NAS, you'll need to set an FTP connection.

Thanks, I'll work on the FTP connection. Will save me starting up the computer only for a quick scan
