Generator service reveals a cracked head. Part in 3 days…. Then re-install! Generator off until then.
Due to the power issues we have here, I’ve decided to power off all 3 NAS’s for those 3+ days, assuming no further delays. During this time we are downshifting to local USB drives for computer data, and no camera storage.
(There is a UPS on each NAS, and computers, but no USB cable NAS to UPS)..

That’ll be a test for supply caps. (After many years of 24/7, then days of power off, caps can degrade on power back on again... More prevalent on High ESR caps than Low ESR caps.... Which were used by MFG - depends on how Prevalent Accounting cost saving actions were during manufacturing design.... This is Why you encounter supply failure more often than not - on a power up)... Each of my NAS's are more than 'fully stuffed', so I'm a candidate for Power Supply Failure due to age!

Glad I have one spare 6 month old supply, multiple spare Low ESR caps, a solder station, power supply load, and I am not at all afraid to open up, repair, and extend the life of sealed power supplies by using high quality Low ESR Caps! I Use the "Vise Trick" to open up sealed supplies...
Awaiting Generator Repair man... NAS's Powered Off.. I know the potential issues awaiting me.

Yes I changed time server in router!

The USB drives are from laptops.... So these drives powered off USB, not AC... Using Laptops at both main locations, with decent batteries. Main edit Server/Desktop system totally off. After generator is back up and OK, we'll power up NAS's and when they are 'Up & Happy', then copy data back to NAS, and return USB drives to the Safe.... (These used to be our backup data devices.... Before NAS's... HDD's then, Now SSD's, and They now are normally 'Locked in Safe' as a 'Make Damn Sure' Data Backups to NAS - for our most valuable data - that reside in the Safe).
Generator Service says cracked off part is from Overhead Valve Cover area, by cover gasket, Not cylinder compression area (Low pressure Oil area) and they have used JB Weld for Engine Blocks as repair in this area.... before. I should hear from them in a day or so... It can take as long as necessary to cure - that it wants! "Throw Money at the Problem!" NAS's Power supply caps is my concern now....

Nothing heard from generator folks, but overnight temps have fallen so extra time to cure might not be a bad thing. Peeked at repair. Looks Impressive. But I’ve never seen that type of repair before - from the inside of the engine!
Ongoing. Edit: next visit delayed till Monday

Generator repaired. Ran 15 min then check for oil leaks. None!
All NAS’s restarted, All have started data scrubbing.
All still see 3rd Party external Esata Drives & Enclosures.
All 720+’s still say 7.2.2-4 is current… even after time check change (?)
DS CAM back operational on all NAS. (QC Check).

NAS’s powered off for 7 days:

718+ Supply Synology: 7 years old
720-1 Supply Synology: 5 years old
720-2 Supply EBay with greater specs: 4.5 years old

Spare 1.3.1-13 2600 routers remain offline for now. Those 3 units average 6 years old

Edit: 24 hours later, all still fine. Added a -13 2600 online to modem to check to see if -14 rolled out... Nothing. (Support said to wait for roll-out)
