Brand new to this forum, so after some guidance re above order..

I see comments from 2025 about the blocking of non-Synology drives, but thought that had been overturned?

Have I set myself up to fail?

I’ve ordered a DS725+ (comes with 32Gb ram and two 500Gb M.2 drives for caching.

I’ve also ordered the first of two WD Red Pro 22Tb drives to go in it. Both will arrive in a few weeks (I’m in New Zealand).

Value any thoughts/pointers.

Hi, according to the Synology website, it might be fine for a fresh storage pool installation. However, I tend to be cautious about their claims.

Here is the tool I’ve managed with in the past:
There is also a lot of further information available there.

Thanks.
I did see that workaround, but was hoping someone owning one might be able to offer a first hand yes/no.
Thanks for the welcome too.

Thanks.. read the policy but must be missing your point, but will give it a whirl with just the 22tb drive by itself and see how I go.
I should add that the NAS comes with 2x8th Synology Plus drives, which I’m hoping not to use, but to onsell as unused/unopen, depending on how the get delivered.
