A year or more ago, I posted a pic of an in-line, plug in, power supply filter (Ferrite beads and capacitors) that I used for field testing of a power supply, as quick confirmation that power supply under test: it's caps were/were not dry...
later on, I realized it might be good for the Old Linksys Router in Garage, used as Home-Made Mesh.... (10 or more years old)... as a preventative measure to extend power supply life....without damaging router.... So I put it on the Linksys, (Garage wired to whole house generator, but Not on a UPS) and made another for my testing use....
Haven't heard a peep from Linksys router year or more later.... It and Energizer Bunny just keep going! - and I was reading post elsewhere about the EERAM in 2600 degrading.... And wondered if some of that might be caps in power supply for router drying out... and noise/spikes on supply with drying out caps were causing EERAM data issues.... that the EERAM test support would use show as an issue for retirement????? I have seen posts on this, and none of posts ever included a power supply swap.... I wonder????
So, since my main 2600 is _____ Many years old.... 6-7-8-++???? And Not showing any random reset issues.... Why not? It can't hurt!
Added my 'spare' Plug-in, Power supply filter to 2600.... That Has: Ferrite beads for RFI Filtering in & out, and multiple Low ESR Caps for DC filtering, as does the one placed on Linksys Router in garage year(s?) ago!!!! All Gear in House on UPS AND Whole House Generator! Seeing that I plan on using the 2600 and would not want dry power supply caps feeding noise/spikes to the 2600... I have Nothing to lose......
Time Will Tell!! (Pic/schemo on request)
