A year or more ago, I posted a pic of an in-line, plug in, power supply filter (Ferrite beads and capacitors) that I used for field testing of a power supply, as quick confirmation that power supply under test: it's caps were/were not dry...
later on, I realized it might be good for the Old...
The TBI is from banging my head against the wall. Let me start at the beginning. I purchased a DS1522+ at the start of May. I installed it and everything was working well. I decided to add memory. Ah, but first, I ran memory test on the existing memory. It bombed out with the message...
I have a new DS1522+ with stock memory. It appears to be running just fine. Still, I decided to run Memory Test in Synology Assistant. The test runs, but ultimately ends with the error message: "System has no response. Connection timeout" after which the status led flashes and the unit is...
3x NAS's: 718+ and 2x 720+'s....
All 3 set identically.... Same programs loaded on each... Same, current, DSM.
Have configured each to do 2x monthly tests: Security, and Drive test, and each NAS email's results to same email address..
Each month, I get 2x emails from 718+: a Security test...
So, my 3mos Extended Smart test on one of my drives (6TB Red Plus) on DS920+ is NOT finishing the job, goes through 10-90% in over a few hours, then STUCK at 90% for 8hrs (still stuck). The other drive (same 6TB Red plus) ended the test hours ago.
Is that a bad sign? As far as I can tell...
I have a DS418play with four WD Red disks. One of them had a bunch of I/O errors over a couple of days, so I went to run an extended SMART test. But it stuck at 90%. After reading a bit I stopped most of the running services and left it going overnight. When it was still going the next day I...
After installing a fresh copy of the Synology Directory Server package and creating a new domain on this NAS, I run a test in Control Panel -> Domain/LDAP and it shows me the error: "Unable to access local service":
When I enter the requested values (IP or FQDN) the error keeps popping up
I...
So 9 days after update 2 we have update 3, good service or poor testing before release.
If you include SMB and Quick connect updates by my count we're already at DSM7.2 update 6

When I didn't get an email indicating that The Scheduled Extended SMART Drive Test had completed, I checked Notification Rules after sending test email (Worked)... and found only QUICK SMART TEST is in list..... (Quick SMART Test is set to email--awaiting results)....So I quickly changed rule to...

I have decided to just put 3 new drives into my new DS920+ rather than moving the old ones over. That old nas and drives will be sold or repurposed. Is it necessary to do a Extended SAMT test on 3 brand new Ironwolf 4TB drives (ST4000VN008) before installing the? I have a workstation set up...
Theoretical test procedure for 2x 2600’s on same LAN:
Cable modem has multiple outputs.
One 2600 at .24, online Ch 1 & 48 No Guest, No VPN, No VLAN
Other 2600 at .1, online Ch 11 & 153 No Guest, No VPN, No VLAN
Ethernet from each connected to same 24 port Gb switch, so both have access to all...
I have two WD20EFXR drives with similar test results. They were manufactured in 2015. Looks to me like they still have 75% of their power on life expectancy left. Would you use them in a new NAS? I had two others that failed extended test (so I'm ditching them) but these seem to have passed fine.
I've 13 Hikvision Cameras that have the latest firmware in them, but firmware pre-dates Last September's Hikvision Security issues.... I do not have remote access turned on any cameras.. and even went so far as to enter an incorrect gateway....
With all this, the cameras work perfectly...
After upgrading to 1.3 for my 2600 + 2200's, I have begun "Segmenting" by setting up a separate network and enacting Firewall rules per Sinology's "Block Access Between two Networks (How can I block access between two local networks while allowing communication among certain devices? - Synology...
