I believe I already know the answer to this question but hoping I am wrong. I need to migrate a DS420+ from 4-8TB SHR with 1 drive fault tolerance to a 3-16TB SHR with 1 drive fault tolerance. I assume since I am decreasing the RAID from 4 to 3 drives it will require a backup and restore, correct?

Remove the current drives; install the 16 TB drives; create a new SHR volume; restore your content from your nightly backup. Done.
