Should I manually upgrade to latest version of Hyper Backup?

Package centre shows that I am on version 4.1.3-4140, which it claims is the Newest online version.
However If I look at the release notes, it has two newer versions 4.2.0-4227 and 4.2.1-4228.
Should I wait until Package Center notifies me of an update or try to do a manual update?
If the latter should I do 4.2.0 then 4.2.1 or just jump straight to the latest available version?

It depends on the rest of the devices that are using this NAS or this NAS is targeting other devices. So compatibility is the main question here.

Apart from that, go for it.

Hyper Backup 4.2.x requires DSM 7.3 and above.

I'm on DSM 7.3.2-86009 update 3

NAS is used primarily as a file server and ABB for the windows clients on my local network.
I use Hyper Backup tasks to local USB disk drive and online to C2 backup and Amazon S3 to Backblaze. There are no other NAS in the setup.

I was wondering whether, as the newer updates have not been offered, there is some reason why updating would not be a good idea.

These are released as staged rollouts. Unless you have a problem that a new version resolves I'd hold off. Let the “early adopters” work out the bugs. The 2 versions you noted were released 2 weeks apart. That suggests the there were issues with the initial v4.2 release. It's your call, but I would wait.

Thanks, holding off until it is offered by package centre is what I normally do. It just seemed like it's been a while since it was released. I'll be patient and wait.

Package centre automatically updated Hyper Backup to V 4.2.1-4228 about an hour ago.
