Recently I've reset and rebuilt my DS920. no firewall, vpn. Have over the last 5 years been dl'ing videos from my friends YouTube account and storing them on my Nas. Would like to make a user account and give them access to the shared folder and nothing else, but at the same time, keeping my Nas secure.

At this point, am using my phone to check the connection. with wifi on I can connect to my mailplus account, DS Note, Plex. However, If I turn off Wi-Fi and only use the Cellular connection it won't connect. what am I missing?

This isn't working for the new user account, from the Internet, but from your usual [non-administrator] account this connectivity works?

If you usually use an administrator account, and that works, then I would check that you haven't placed Applications IP-based access limitations on the DSM 'users' group.

Another thought would be you are using a server name that is resolved to the local NAS IP address, but cannot be resolved to the router's WAN IP address (with associated port forwarding to the NAS). Also, Plex now only allows remote access if you are running a server with Plex Pass or the client user has the remote access subscription.

Ok, made some progress. I loaded Tailscale and set it up with a lot of YouTube videos help. All my apps are now working via cellular, "so I guess I did something right." I can even watch movies on my cell phone which in my opinion is ridiculous!

Now comes the fun part. In order to allow another user to my Nas I need to invite them to join my Tailnet by sending them an invite from my TailScale User menu. Am guessing they use their invite to install my tail scale link on their device.

The only thing I can't find the answer to is does my invite include an Ip, "which TailScale assigns," or name to get to my NAS?
