After years of reading and hearing about how great and versatile and useful Docker is, I finally decided to take the plunge and try only one thing on one system. Part of this test was to determine if my expected successor would be able to manage that environment without undo overhead. Container Manager, the updated Docker, was installed directly from the Package Center.
The test and the overhead assessment both failed fast and early without ever getting the Docker app up, much less running. That was perfectly OK. These are production systems, two things we require are nothing becomes a "key man" nor "hobby" issue. The attempted but failed installation of the subordinate app was terminated and Container Manager uninstalled using the Package Center > Container Manager > [ uninstall ] built-in routine.
Fast forward a few weeks and I see a folder on the root called 'docker'. It appears to be empty, but there is no obvious means to delete it using File Station. Rather than heading straight to the CL, I start querying how to remove the Docker folder. Low and behold I find gobs and gobs of data on unknown snippets scattered about.
About this time I start self-contained admonition: "Way to go, genius. You've just made lovely noob mistake. Now fix it.". AFAIK there are no miscellaneous Docker code snippets, files, folders, etc., scattered about the volume, just the errant unwanted folder.
Is the "no extra stuff" realistic? If not, how do I find out? How do I get rid of the docker extra stuff, if any? And, how do I get rid of the unwanted docker folder?
Thanks in advance for any help,
