For me, you can't beat Running Kodi on an Amazon 4K box at the client end.

I DO like the fire devices but have run in to issues with UHD 4k and buffering. Best solution here is Kodi on an Nvidia Shield.

Oh, I've never tried a Shield. The Fire devices I have are the previous 4K generation ones that they dropped. I've never fancied those silly Stick things they replaced them with!

The ones I have have 1GB lan ports and handle all of my needs just fine.

Fire devices can handle anything up to 1080p uncompressed with no issue. Beyond that - good luck.
