Important Note

  1. After installing this update, you will not be able to downgrade to a previous DSM version.
  2. This update will restart your Synology NAS.
  3. If auto update does not run, perform a manual update in Control Panel. Before updating, follow the instructions and complete the required actions to ensure success.
  4. To uphold our commitment to quality, every DSM release undergoes rigorous validation. To ensure optimal stability, the models listed below will not receive this update on your device and will remain on their most suitable version. You can only download the upgrade patch from Synology Download Center because you won't receive notifications for this update on your DSM.

Compatibility & Installation

  1. To ensure compatibility, Replication Service will be automatically updated or will require a manual update to a compatible version.

Fixed Issues

  1. Fixed an issue where the LED brightness adjustment function might stop working on certain models.
  2. Fixed an issue where connected external devices might not appear when selecting files or folders.
  3. Fixed an issue where external storage devices might trigger false alerts.
  4. Fixed an issue where a UPS connected via USB might fail to function after a system update.

Did the update on 1821 and 2423, both rebooted fine. I also updated Synology Drive to 4.0 which had some install issues, per this thread, that are resolvable.

November 17, and my 720+ units still say 7.2.2-4 is current.... No Roll-Out here yet

Just trying not to miss a ‘last minute’ patch…. Support suggested I wait (Both NAS & Router), for roll out, but didn’t elaborate on either. Monday’s have been release days in the past…….
Edit! Generator repair: Start of week 2 since repair:
It did its ‘weekly test’ today. I was out: Missed viewing it live.. Couple hours later, opened up side of Generator and looked for oil leak. None! (Cylinder head piece cracked off on lower side of OHV gasket area, repaired with JB WELD)! So far so good! Later this week gonna change the day of generator test, view it during test, and report back to generator repair company with update… as requested!). That’ll keep me busy while waiting for Roll-Outs!

Version: 7.3.1-86003 Update 1

Important Update

(2025-11-18)

Important notes

  1. Your Synology NAS may not notify you of this DSM update because of the following reasons. If you want to update your DSM to this version now, please click here to update it manually.
    • The update is not available in your region yet. The update is expected to be available for all regions within the next few days, although the time of release in each region may vary slightly.
    • Your DSM is working fine without having to update. The system evaluates service statuses and system settings to determine whether it needs to update to this version.
  2. This update will restart the device.

Fixed Issues

  1. Fixed a security vulnerability.
Notes:

Updated all compatible hosts to the latest DMS and packages. Zero issues with any service/container so far.

Thank you! Gonna try it (On Experimental 720+) but getting an internal Cloudfare error..."500 at synology download in Atlanta-- Try again in a few minutes"
Now At least I know where my Synology downloads are coming from! Patiently waiting...

lots of good information to share!

Once Cloudfare allowed download.... (Download seems to be pot luck in it's success!) 7.3.1-86003-1 installed on my "Experimental" 720+.. As of Yesterday, ALL Packages were updated...
Login before update was Greeted with Package Update warning.... Hybrid Share. It added a New Hybrid Share Rule, (Slightly Different than prior allow rule from prior updates), so put it above Prior rule...

Then did 7.3.1-1 manual install....

Note that after Manual Update: Synology Assistant, DS FINDER, and Local ethernet connected Login - ALL See's this update as 7.3.1-86003, not as all 3 had previously displayed format of: 7.X.X-XXXX-Update X -- but download said it was: 7.3.1-86003-1 that, so I know I loaded correct version... ??? (And an update check - after Update - It reports latest update was already installed... So I'm good, it's just not displaying as prior versions have done - Even though other 7.2.2-4 NAS's in Synology Assistant - Do display 'Update-X' versions)!

During my Successful tests of DS CAM, DS FILE, DS FINDER, DRIVE, an email came in indicatating other 720+ had updates.... Which ended up being only the Hybrid Share Update Prompt, that fails, Probably because of the same Cloudfare Issue.... I can wait on that.... and Firmware... Nothing but Hybrid Share update, received on 718+ as expected.... (Also fails=Cloudfare)

7.3.1-1 on Experimental 720+: No issues so far! :)

720+'s all updated fine....
718+ PRE 7.3 Update, also resonded that Hybrid Share needed updating, but Didn't ask to put the Hybrid Share rule in firewall... So I did it manually afterward....
7.3.1-1 update (I'm calling it -1 update though it doesn't!).... Was fine on 718+ as it was on 720+'s..

EDIT:!!!
After doing all this I looked at the checklist of things I did on LAST MAJOR UPDATE.... On Last Major update, I stopped and removed the Active Insight, and Hybrid Share! 'Cause I DON'T USE THEM!
I even had the script files in Task Manager! ... So I manually ran the script files to remove Active Insight, and Hybrid Share.... and also realized by doing this, the Firewall Rules are also AUTOMAGICALLY Removed, too! All Still FINE! :)

Hours later, without Hybrid Share & Active Update. All 3 still fine! 718+, on it’s last update still has Plenty of CPU & Ram left to do more assigned work! 718+ is Nothing like how 215J acted after its next to last update! Night & Day difference!
