Question DS412+ not booting: serial console shows EFI Internal Shell missing boot devices, but EFI partition on internal storage seems intact

The DS1511+ has a monitor port
Yes, that's unusual. Is the BIOS configured correctly to display anything on the screen? EFI...etc...
Have you tried all the function keys to access the BIOS, if it's still working? F1, F2, F6, ESC, DEL

But I still don't understand why I can't enter the BIOS and I have a black screen.

How do you connect to that port?

Just try something different, don't overthink it ;-)
Plug another USB device into a port on the back and try again.

To flash a BIOS, the machine needs to be powered on first, right? Otherwise, you'll need a programming adapter.

Why not just throw it away and get a PC/laptop with a more modern DSM?

And I tried that, it doesn't load

Isn’t there a uart jumper on the board as well, so you can establish a serial connection and terminal access?

Flashing can be done with power off using eg. a ch341a programmer and an soic8 clip…

I received a higher-quality NAS today for €80. It's a Thecus N2810. Getting something like that for a small amount of money is absolutely no problem. Running DSM 7.3.2u3 with it

Do you get a beep tone, or does the DS1511+ not have that feature?
