DSM Update Version: 7.2.2-72806 Update 4

I got prompted to update my DS1821+ to 7.2.2-72806 Update 4 today which I did, and it all seemed to go well, then hours later (when I was asleep in bed) I started to get alerts that things on my network were offline (I run my internal DHCP and DNS on my Synology, so if it goes offline, most of my LAN devices do as well). I go to my Synology and the status light is solid green, power is solid blue, but no drive LEDs are blinking. Synology Assistant can't find my Synology on the network! (And it has a manually set static IP, so does the system I'm on, so this is a serious situation.) I hold down the power button on the Synology to start a soft shutdown, and it starts blinking, but the Synology does not shut down, and there is no drive activity. After 20 minutes of waiting with the power LED blinking, I force it off by holding down the power button until it shuts off, and then power it back up, and it does a normal boot up. Log Center doesn't show anything unusual other than the report of the improper shutdown that got logged when I booted it back up. Data scrubbing is running as a result of the improper shutdown. Storage Manager shows all drives as healthy. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas how I can figure out what actually happened?

I got the Oauth update before the dsm update. Not sure how the oauth update relates to this dsm update.

I'm on DSM 7.2.1 (I use videostaion). Got a notification about OAuth update, but noting in package centre, checking the Control Panel there was a DSM update (DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 8).

Updated DSM no issues, and in package centre OAuth now says version 1.1.5.011, update same time as DSM.


Why Synology can tell me to update a package, but not DSM is beyond me.
They are really losing the plot at the moment.

Specifically in your case you need to get with the latest 7.2.2. You’ve chosen (for reason of course) to stick with an older version, in which all that will be most likely provided are security patches. You’ll have to fetch those manually because they want you to be on the latest. Not sure how they’re loosing the plot because if your in latest, notifications have been coming through; it’s worked as expected on one of my own ds718’s that I own.

Other reasons: It’s because dsm is still in a staged rollout. When you hear about these version updates through places like this forum, that is essentially on bleeding edge that you’re hearing about it. If you didn’t see this, then eventually got the dsm update notification when it’s out of a staged rollout than you would think it’s normal notification. Additionally, synology explicitly has a note you may not be notified in certain cases.
