Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement for C2 password as Synology is dropping it. Too bad they don't just add it to the package store, so all our info is stored on our Nas
I replaced the fans in my DS923+ awhile back, the best thing I've ever done I think, all the noise is gone. Next project, my DS224+ has started making annoying noises aswell and I thought about replacing that fan. However I haven't found good any guides for that one, anyone knows better?
Is there a good guide on how to build my own USB replacement of my DS1512+ DOM? Maybe a place where people share the images of a working DOM? I had a power outage, and it came back up with a constantly blinking power LED when I try to boot it up. Tested the PSU with no luck. Pulled the DOM out...
The good old, (off-site backup system) DS415+ was due for replacement, I will replace it with my main home NAS DS620slim.
The new home NAS: after some considerations I decided to switch to another brand as of the Syno disk policy and the lack of m.2 nvme based systems in the Synology portfolio...
In the line of "no good deed goes unpunished", I think Seagate inadvertently (?) has done me a disservice. I have a DS218+ formerly populated with 12TB Ironwolf drives. One failed and was replaced by Seagte with a 16TB drive. Nice gesture, right? But it occurs to me now, that with SHR, I am...
Since this thread closed down dialogue I thought I'd throw up my own thread.
To summarize, those seeking to flee synology (i feel your pain) and think the pastures are greener with a UniFi UNAS, sadly it aint so, unless you have extremely limited needs. Yes they let you use any drive (so does...
This year, my off site backup DS415+ is due for replacement.
In the past, I would buy a new Synobox and then move my 1st NAS (DS620slim) to the off site location, ready for another 5 years.
But now, I am not sure. There are too many doubts.
I prefer to upgrade a next system to a 3 or 4* NVME...
Alongside my need to replace my SA3400 servers i also have several RS3618XS servers that are part of our DSM/SvS cms setup.
What would be wise. Install new server alongside the old ones and have Migration Assistant do the heavy lifting? Does MA also take care of the cms part?
Or would it be...
I hear that NAS’s have a replaceable coin battery onboard the motherboard.
I’ve seen posts where it was replaced by folks, but I don’t ever recall what settings that battery is “keeping alive”.
Obviously knowing what data its keeping before hand would be advantageous if I then had to re-enter...
I’m a long-time user, but new member. I have a 920+ configured with SHR-2. I have a 9 drives total, with the expansion bay, all on one volume. I recently had a degraded situation, with one drive failing. I replaced the drive and tried to repair. The repair failed and flagged a second drive...
