I appreciate your help in the following.

Both NAS have DDNS like: location1.synology.me and location2.synology.me My provider-assigned ip addresses are sort of fixed, but not guaranteed so therefore the DDNS.
This setup runs almost unattended...
My final goal is to allow Thinkbroadband.com's (TB) Broadband quality Monitor (BQM) to ping my DS923+ but set up the DSM firewall to restrict any incoming traffic to only ICMP.
So, on my router, which defaults to blocking all incoming traffic, I have set up a rule which allows all protocols...
I am trying to set up some firewall rules and thought it would be helpful to turn on Firewall notifications here....
However, whilst I have created a rule to block a ping attempt to the DSM from a particular IP, which clearly works, I have not received a notification for it.
Is there anything...

Sometimes an un-knowledgeable person cuts through the weeds to suggest a fantastic idea.
I was showing the router firewall rules to a neighbor, and he looked and listened……..
And he commented: “ The DENY ALL” rules at the bottom of list are important, but totally vague”…
